It has 5 calories and sugar free. It really helps me keep up my water intake. I am moving back into phase 2 and I am not sure if I am still allowed my new delicious treat.

SO glad you asked that question, I want to know the answer too! I was just thinking about that today and was going to ask it myself, but I got busy and forgot!

i guess it depends on you...every so often if im really hating water and need to have something with "taste" i'll have a bottle with 1/2 a packet. ive not had an issue with it but i really limit it to no more than 1 bottle a day and as little days a week as possible..

The sweeteners in CL are not stevia or sweet and low, so it is not allowed. Also, the artificial chemicals in this drink mix make many people stall and/or crave carbs..so, I never drink it.

can someone tell me what's wrong with using splenda? I'm wondering if it just wasn't a choice in Dr. Simeon's day. Is there a reason why it's not allowed or suggested? I like it better.

Well yesterday was day one of phase2 round 2 vlcd. I drank 3 bottles of the crystal light and I did not loose a single pound. SO I will not be doing that again. I made it my first 30 days without it, I can do it again.

What about the lipton green tea with citrus? If I get the diet it has zero calories and sugar.

For myself, I am not using anything with preservative or artificial sweetners.

I use my lemon and stevia to make a quart of lemonade every morning and just use a lot of crushed ice in my glass.

Tastes great, I think it has replaced soda, as my new addicton!!

i gained 3 days in a row on CL before i realized that was the cause. probably water retention, but still annoying.

nutrisweet and splenda were not available back when the protocol was written, nor were sugar alcohols widely used. so we have no way of knowing what he would have allowed and what he wouldn't have. from strictly a calorie perspective, he probably would- but there is a lot of research now about how bad artificial sweeteners are for you- apparently even stevia has gotten some bad press.

    I'm New!

I tried CL on Sunday and gained on Monday as well as physically felt hungry. I will neve do that again. I was consuming about 1/4 packet of Splenda and learned that it has a glycemic index (I am thinking that is why we shouldn't use it) but when I tried Stevia I thought it tasted funny. So, I think I will continue to use Splenda since I was still losing -just very low quantity.
